| COMMENTS: - If the tours are not booked with a minimum of 6 riders the tour price will increase by $670 or the tour will be canceled. - The tours marked with ** have a different layout, starting in Antofagasta / Chile and ending in Arica / Chile, not going into Bolivia. Airfare from Santiago de Chile to and from the tour is included in the pricing of $4230. Those tours have a similar routing, traveling more of the Atacama Desert and taking the same route across Peru. Ask us for itinerary. - Dec 21 to Jan 5 is a fantastic time to travel, our tour will include a Christmas dinner in Arica and a New Years party in Cusco, but due to high season we need to add 15% to the tour price and bookings have to be received no later than October 20.! - January to April is the raining season and we will not do any tours out of Bolivia during those month! |

| DAY BY DAY | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1. Day:Meeting in La Paz / Bolivia Introductions and welcome briefing at 6pm.We recommended to arrive into La Paz a day or two early, to get adjusted to the high altitude and enjoy the life in town with many Indian markets. 2. Day: La Paz - Sajama (140 miles) Ride from La Paz across the Altiplano mostly on paved roads, stop at pre Inca funeral tombs, see the highest peak in Bolivia Mt. Sajama (Sajama National Park) and after a swim in the natural hot springs you will enjoy a fantastic dinner prepared by our local guides at our luxury camp. 3. Day: Sajama - Arica / Chile (170 miles) Border crossing into Chile against the most spectacular scenic backdrop of Lake Chungara and Volcano Parinacota. Riding off or on paved roads is your decision! Winding roads will take you across the Lauca National Park (home to thousands of Vicuñas and Lamas) and the Atacama Deserts to the pacific beaches. 4. Day: Arica - optional riding day In this corner of the Atacama Desert it has not rained for hundreds of years, which allows you to ride the dirt bike without restriction across the sandy desert. You will see ancient Petroglyphs and Ghost Towns during a half day ride and have time enough to relax or take a swim in the Pacific. 5. Day: Arica - Moquegua / Peru (160 miles) Border crossing to Peru on the Pan-American Highway. Ride along the beautiful Pacific Coast beaches where sea lions and guano birds can be seen. The road is paved all the way, but it will be possible to ride for approx. 20 miles along the sandy beach. Have some seafood for lunch before we get into a lush valley with traditional wineries. 6. Day: Moquegua - Arequipa (180 miles) You will have the option to ride the paved Pan-American Highway or take a winding dirt road across the mountains. Spectacular landscape with colored rocks, deep canyons and Inca terraces are just a bonus along this beautiful route to Arequipa, the second biggest city of Peru. 7. Day: Arequipa - rest day This will be a quiet day affording the time to visit interesting places in the colonial-style city like the Santa Catalina Monastery and the Cathedral. There is plenty of time to relax, go shopping, hang out at the beautiful plaza or go on a short dirt bike ride to the foothills of Volcano El Misti. 8. Day: Arequipa - Yanque (100 miles) Traveling on winding roads, most of them paved, we will leave the "white city" and cross the slopes of the snow-capped Ampato volcano to arrive at Colca Canyon. Majestic Andean condors soar above the Colca River. Pre-Incan ethnic people have inhabited this valley for more than 1,500 years. Enjoy the natural hot spring pools at the hotel. 9. Day: Yanque - Sicuani (170 miles) A wonderful drive on dirt roads will bring us to the valley of Sicuani. The road surface is sometimes poor but the journey between small mining towns and beautiful lakes is spectacular. Lunch is taken at a local restaurant in a remote city, no tourist is seen at this place and you, with your motorcycle, will be an attraction to the locals. 10. Day: Sicuani to Cusco (120 miles) Our first destination is the Inca ritual center ruins of Templo de Viracocha in Raqchi. Winding roads along the Urubamba River taking us to the Inca ruins of Pisac. Next we will arrive in Cusco, the Arqueological Capital of America and oldest living city in America. 11. Day: The main attraction of the Cusco area is the Machu Picchu Inca ruins. We cannot ride motorcycles to the Machu Picchu because public traffic is not allowed in the narrow valley. So you will have a rustic train ride to what might have been the last refuge of the Incas fleeing the Spanish invaders. 12. Day: Some tour members using this day to enjoy Cusco, one of the most beautiful cities in South America. Get to learn more about the Incas in the local Museum visit Sacsaywaman or go on a ride to explore further Incan ruins in the Sacred Valley. There is good dirt bike riding in this exotic mountain area. 13. Day: Cusco - Puno (240 miles) Riding over the La Raya pass on paved roads to the Lake Titikaka. The scenery is beautiful and there are options to ride some dirt roads. At Sillustani a pre-Incan society built impressive stone funerary towers known as chullpas on a mesa overlooking a landscape seemingly from another world. 14. Day: Puno - Copacobana / Bolivia (100 miles) Take a boat to one of the best known islands which dot the surface of Titicaca - Islas de Los Uros; named after the Indians who inhabited them. The lake reeds are the most important element in their lives as they use them to make their houses and boats. A short afternoon ride one on paved roads, we will take you across the border into Bolivia. 15. Day: Copacobana - La Paz (100 miles) One might take a pleasant 45 minute walk to the top of Cerro Calvario which overlooks the Lake Titicaca. Others might enjoy the live of the locals before we leave on a winding mostly paved road to La Paz. Have some tout for lunch on the shore of Lake Titikaka where the reeds have been collected for various expeditions like the Kon-Tiki. 16. Day: Departure Note: We reserve the right to make any small changes during the course of the tour. |
