DAY BY DAYDay 1: Arrival at the airport in Malaga, transfer to La Herradura. Handing over of the rental motorbikes. Introductions over dinner and a glass of Spanish wine. Day 2: La Herradura - Tangier (140 miles) At about 7:30am we start out for Algeciras (ca. 4 hours of driving). Along the way we stop for a small breakfast. Leaving Europe behind us, we take the ferry across to Tangier (Africa). Day 3: Tangier - Essaouira (400 miles) In order to quickly reach the south of Morocco, the program today is filled with kilometers. A part of the route (ca. 330km) will be completed on the highway, the other part leads us through a variety of streets and varying, typical Moroccan landscapes. Day 4: Essaouira - Day of relaxation After yesterday's long drive, we have enough time today for a leisurely stroll through the charming old town of Essaouira, with its many galleries, cafés and stores. The famous kilometer long sand beach tempts you to a long walk, or you can spoil yourself by enjoying a freshly prepared fish in one of the many harbor restaurants. Day 5: Essaouira - Sidi Ifni (210 miles) Today superb scenery and lots of curves await us. We will drive through slightly hilly landscapes, along streets with many curves, before heading in the direction of Agadir along the steep cliff coastline. We continue to Tiznit, known for the silver jewelry it produces and its complete city walls that encompass Medina (the old town). In the direction of Sidi Ifni, a one time Spanish enclave, we once more meet up with the Atlantic. The coastal street leads us past some magnificent beaches. Day 6: Sidi Ifni - Fort Bou Jerif (70 miles) After a trip to the beautiful beach of Le Gzira, with its rock doors carved by the wind and waves, we set off for the desert. Via winding roads through a picturesque countryside we arrive in Fort Bou Jerif. Day 7: Fort Bou Jerif - Tafraout (130 miles) Guelmin, once an important caravan town on the way Timboucto, also named 'Door to the Sahara', lies on our route into the Entitles mountains. Small streets and slopes lead us Tafraout, an adorable small town, and center of the Anti-Atlas. High above the town, we overnight in the Kasbah hotel, Les Armandiers. Day 8: Roundtrip Tafraout (50 miles) Tafraoute and its picturesque surroundings are considered one of Morocco's most beautiful places. However, this beauty was not enough for a Belgium artist. In 1986 he "painted" a plateau of large granite stones with 20 tons of paint. During our drive passed these "colorful stones", we let this mixture of nature and art influence us. Before we dive into the magnificent Ait Mansour river, we devote ourselves to the curves on the 1600m mountain pass. Day 9: Tafraout - Taroudant. (115 miles) On a real "curve cruise" we leave the Anti-Atlas and head for the Souss lowlands seperating the High-Atlas from the Anti-Atlas. In Taroudannt, also known as small Marrakech, we overnight in one of the nicest hotels in Morocco, the Hotel Palais Salam. A palace integrated into the old city walls of a one time Paschas. Day 10: Taroudant - Marrakech (150 miles) Tizi-n-Test, one word that signifies a thousand curves. This trip over the ca. 2000m high pass in the High Atlas mountains, is an absolute delight, pure driving pleasure and a dream for our BMWs. Spectacular views of the snow-capped peak at 4000m accompany us on this unique stage of our tour. Continuing, we come across the "Pearl of the South- Marrakech". In the evening we have the opportunity to get to know the city a little better, with its Souks, Djemaa el Fna, snake charmers, jugglers and story-tellers. Each can experience this city individually, in the middle of the hustle and bustle, or as a quiet connoisseur of one of the terrace cafés surrounding the main square. Day 11: Marrakech - Essaouira. (110 miles) This morning we have time for a city tour or a ride in a horse-drawn carriage until about 2pm. Afterwards we head directly for Essouira. We meet for dinner in the picturesque fishing harbor in "Chez Sam". Day 12: Essaouira - Oualidia (120 miles) Along the Atlantic coast, passing beautiful beaches and fishing villages we drive via Safi to Oualidia, a favorite bathing resort for wealthy Moroccans. Oualidia is famous for its oyster breeding. Day 13: Oualidia - Tangier (320 miles) Our Morocco trip is slowly drawing to a close. Passing Casablanca and Rabat, we return to Tangier. Day 14: Tangier - La Herradura (Costa del Sol) (140 miles) After an early breakfast we head directly for the harbor. Border crossing and ferry trip to Algeciras. We continue our trip to La Herradura. Day 15: Departure Note: We reserve the right to make any small changes during the course of the tour. |
