Itinerary
|
Day 1: Arrival in Barnaul - Our journey begins in the city of Barnaul - the capital of Altai Territory.
Day 2: Barnaul to Manzherok village - Following the famous road connecting Russia and Mongolia (Chuyski highway), we'll come to the village of Manzherok, located on the shores of the Katun River.
Day 3: Manzherok village to Artybash village - Next, as we ride along the road to Lake Teletskoe, we'll visit the Tavdinsky caves; a very interesting geological location. We will then cross the lake by boat along with the motorcycles (approximately 75 miles). On the way, we'll stop at Korbu Falls.
Day 4: Artybash village to Ail Azen - Our group will travel another 100 miles along the river Chulyshman, which is the most beautiful gorge in the Altai. We'll camp for the night in these Altaic 'ails' (nomadic camps)
Day 5: Ail Azen to Chibit village - Once you've looked down into the Chulyshman Gorge, you'll realize you've come to the Altai. We first must travel the 3.5 mile steep ascent to the pass. On this day, we'll see the Pazyryk mound - the grave sites of notable peoples who lived in these places in the 5th century. We'll spend the night in Mongolian yurts.
Day 6: Chibit village to Ursul river - More riding today, and more gorgeous scenery. We'll stay in tents along the banks of the pristine Ursul river and enjoy the romance of the campfire and some guitar playing.
Day 7: Ursul river to Solonovka village - Next, we'll visit the world-famous Denisov cave, in which artifacts have been found dating to 300,000 years ago. In the evening, we'll arrive at the village of Solnovka, which is the base for paragliders.
Day 8: Rest day - This is a rest day, during which you can ride along the Peschanaya river - a very beautiful place, but a challenging ride! Alternately, you can go paragliding with an instructor, enjoy a horseback ride, or just relax.
Day 9: Solonovka village to Barnaul - As we ride back to Barnaul, the group will stop in the city-resort Belokuriha and ride a cable car to the mountain chapel for a farewell look at the hospitable Altai.
Day 10: Departure from Barnaul
Note: We reserve the right to make changes.
