Itinerary
Day 1:
Airport - Rekyavik
Arrival and drop-off at your hotel.
Day 2:
Reykjavík
Guided tour around the Reykjavík area, including a visit to the Saga museum, lunch at Perlan, Blue Lagoon, and dinner in downtown Reykjavik.
Day 3:
Reykjavík to Sauðákrókur
(399 km / 250 miles, 95% paved)
Let the riding begin! On this day we will ride through Hvalfjordur, Borgarnes, Haukadalur, and Blönduós, visiting an old whale station and a viking settlement farm along the way.
Day 4:
Sauðákrókur to Akureyri
(228 km / 150 miles)
Next we'll pass through Hofsós, Siglufjörður, Ólafsfjöður, and Dalvík, enjoying the beautiful landscape. On this day we will also stop to explore the Herring museum and small fisherman villages.
Day 5:
Akureyri to Mývatn
(247 km / 160 miles)
Our fifth day is an exciting one - we'll pass through H&usavík and stop in Ásbyrgi for a whalewatching tour, then take a look at Dettifoss, the most powerful waterfall in Europe, and finally enjoy the Mývatn nature baths.
Day 6:
Mývatn to Seyðisfjördur
(192 km / 120 miles)
As we pass through Egilstaðir, we'll visit the Krafia geothermal power station, hot springs and mud holes, the Mountain Café, and the Lagarfljót worm.
Day 7:
Seyðisfjöður to Höfn
(270 km / 170 miles)
On day seven, we'll ride through Egilstaðir, Reyðarfjörður, Fáskrúðsfjörður, Stöðvarfjöður, Breiðdalsvík, and Djúpivogur. On the way, we will get to appreciate the beautiful eastern coastline, magnificent glimpses of nature, an old coffee house, and a lobster feast!
Day 8:
Höfn to Skógar
(369 km / 230 miles)
Next we'll ride through Ví, Skaftafell national park, and past Jökulsárlón glacial lake, Skógarfos waterfall, and Vatnajökull, the biggest glacier in Europe.
Day 9:
Skógar to Reykjavík
(253 km / 158 miles)
On our last day of riding, we'll drive through Hvolsvöllur, Hella, Flúðir, and Laugarvatn. We'll also check out the waterfall Seljalandsfoss, the golden waterfall Gullfoss, Geysir hot spring, þingvellir national park, and Nesjavellir geothermal area.
