DAY BY DAY

Day 1:

Santiago
[flight]
Arrive in Santiago. Welcome dinner with the group.

Day 2:
Santiago - Mendoza [ride]
Trip from Santiago across the border to Mendoza, Argentina (about 450 or 280 miles). Lodging in a four-star hotel with breakfast and a parking place.

Day 3 & 4:
Mendoza - Córdoba [ride]
Visit Valle de La Luna (Moon Valley) Provincial Park in Ischigualasto, situated about 80 km (50 miles) from San Agustín del Valle Fértil on the No. 151 Provincial Route, and 300 km (186 miles) from San Juan Capital City. Valle de La Luna Provincial is a clay formation with a great variety of colors and shapes; slopes with many layers of minerals and sediment that allow you to clearly see the evolution of the earth.
As you explore the area, you will notice how the combination of the erosion caused by water and the erosion caused by wind carves different shapes day after day. In these shapes, man has looked for special meaning by comparing them to those previously known.
All throughout the tour, as you ride along the path, you will find formations such as 'El Gusano', 'Le Esfinge', 'El Submarino', 'El Hango', and the fallen 'Lámpara de Aladino'. You will learn that the constant work of erosion on the clay layers leave vertebrate fossiles as well as flora from the Secondary Era, turning it into one of the most important paleontologic beds in the world. In fact, it has been proclaimed Natural Heritage to Humanity by UNESCO as well as Talampaya National Park in La Rioja.
Typical stops in the tour include 'Valle Pintado', 'Paisaje luna' and 'La Cancha de Bochas', the last being spheres perfectly polished in the ground. The phenomenon of their formation is not yet clearly explained; one theory is that different particles of sediments have come together by means of molecular attraction, generating these bowls.

Day 5 & 6:
Córdoba - Villa General Belgrano
[ride]
Departure to the city of Córdoba, where we will also visit the 'Sierras of Córdoba' and 'Villa General Belgrano'. We will travel 434 km (270 miles).
A typical mountain village, General Belgrano is known as the 'Village of Cultures' and is located 750 m (2,500 ft) above sea level, situated between the 'Small Sierras' to the east and the 'Big Sierras' to the west. It is equidistant between the lake 'Los Molinos' and the dam 'Río Tercero'. The temperatures vary between 10-18°C, causing cold winters and warm summers, giving the region its continental temperate weather. For the most part, the villagers belong to native communities or are descendants of German, Italian, Hungarian, Austrian, Spanish, or Swiss settlers.
Villa General Belgrano surprises the tourist with its traditional festivals, its art, and the peculiar Central European architectural style. During the month of October, thousands of people peregrinate up to this city to take part in the National Beer Festival, one of the most expected events of the year, commonly known as Oktoberfest (as in Germany). Most of the houses are built with wood and two hip roofs with red tails that provide a peculiar style. The strategic location of Villa General Belgrano allows the tourist to go on different excursions and visit the attractions of the Valley and return to the village in the same day.
The flora is varied and much of it is foreign to the area. It is made up of pines, cedars, cypresses and oaks, combining with autochthonous vegetation made up of hackberry trees, carob trees and chanars, among others.
The most representative animal species found in this region are pumas, foxes, viscachas and hares, which makes this place the favourite spot for sport hunting fans.

Day 7:
Villa General Belgrano - Paraná
[ride]
Lodging in Paraná, a four-star hotel with breakfast and a parking place, about 378 km away (235 miles).

Day 8:
Paraná - Corrientes
[ride]
We will travel 594 km (370 miles) to Corrientes. Situated in the littoral of the Argentinian northeast region, on the banks of the Paraná River, Corrientes is the capital city of the homonimous province. One can get to this region by plane and arrive at the Gobernador Piragine Niveyro Airport, or by car/bus through National Routes No. 11 and 12. In this area of the province, the climate is mild and the temperature is high with a limited annual variation and a low daily oscillation due to the high humidity; the average temperature is 20°C. There are heavy rains in fall and spring.
The architecture of Corrientes City shows different styles, with buildings that integrate the smooth shapes of colonial Baroque style with current dynamic buildings that provide the area with an atmosphere of constant renewal in its streets and parks. Corrientes offers a tourist landscape where one can enjoy sport fishing of Dorado, and water sports in the excellent Municipal River Resort or Sailing Club. One cannot miss a walk down the river drive, which has natural balconies looking over the river, or a visit to the zoo, museums, or shops along Junín pedestrian street.

Day 9, 10 & 11:
Corrientes - Puerto Iguazú
[ride]
Over these days, we will travel approximately 617 km (383 miles). We will lodge in a beautiful hotel in Puerto Iguazú, where we will stay to visit the Brazilian city Fox de Iguazú, the other side of the waterfalls. This region has a humid subtropical climate without a dry season, with temperatures ranging from 20-33°C in summer, with mild winters. It is important to mention that due to the high degree of humidity, the rain diminishes thermic amplitude and causes clouds to increase.
Topographically speaking, Puerto Iguazú is located in a plateau with red rocky land due to the melaphyre decomposition rich in iron, and having cliffs covered in humus favouring the growth of an exuberant forest.
Favourite tourist activities include excursions to Iguazú National Park (Natural Heritage to Humanity by UNESCO), visiting 275 waterfalls and getting to know the exotic flora and fauna. In the city, there are different places to visit such as 'Mbororé' and Natural Sciences Museums, Tres Fronteras Boundary Stone and the International Casino. From Puerto Iguazú, one can go on excursions to Ciudad del Este (East City), Paraguay, where there is an important crafts and electronics fair. Other activities include excursions to Brazil in order to get a different view of the falls.
Puerto Iguazú is a place where nature is certain to amaze the tourist with its great beauty. If you cross the border into Brazil, apart from being dazzled at the fantastic view of Iguazú Falls, you can visit Itaipú Hydroelectronic Factory, which is considered the seventh created wonder of the Modern World. Built on the Paranás River on the border of Brazil and Paraguay, with an installed power of 12,600 mW, Itaipú Hydroelectronic Factory is responsible for generating 25% of the electric energy used in Brazil and 95% of the energy used in Paraguay.

Day 12:
Puerto Iguazú - Paso de los Libres
[ride]
We will travel to Paso de los Libres, about 611 km (380 miles), and along the way we will visit the San Ignacio Ruins.

Day 13 & 14:
Paso de los Libres - Buenos Aires
[ride]
We will travel 682 km (424 miles) to Buenos Aires. The Autonomous City of Buenos Aires is the Federal District of the Republic of Argentina and the most important cosmopolitan urban center in the country.
The weather in Buenos Aires is oceanic temperate. The annual average temperature is 18°C. There are no frosts in the winter and the temperatures range from 3-7°C. In the summer, it is hot and humid and the average temperature is 28°C.
The tours and excursions that show the strong cosmopolitan spirit of Buenos Aires are Cominito, Recoleta, La Boca, the Mataderos Fair, the Botanical Garden, the zoo, the Japanese Garden and the holly Land Theme Park, which is the first religious theme park in the world.
Other remarkable historical landmarks are the 'Cablido' (City Hall), the Cathedral, the City Palace, the Obelisk, Colon Theatre, the Block of the Lights and the Planetarium. At night, "the city that never sleeps" offers concerts, shows, theatres, cinemas, floating casinos, discos, cafés and pubs.
For all of these reasons, Buenos Aires owns an open door identity that offers an endless variety of entertainment choices.

Day 15:
Buenos Aires - Laboulaye
[ride]
Ride to Laboulaye, 500 km (311 miles).

Day 16 & 17:
Laboulaye - Mendoza
[ride]
Mendoza is the capital city of the homonimous province and the most important city of Western Argentina. It is one of the favourite tourist destinations because of the various interesting activities available in the region.
The Mendoza and Tunuyán Rivers create an incredible oasis for growing fruits and vegetables. The climate of the region is mild, though the mountains provide a certain degree of aridity. The temperature in summer ranges from 18-33°C and days are hot and nights are fresh. In winter, temperatures range from 3-16°C.
While in Mendoza, it is impossible to resist the temptation to visit the wineries that have made this province so famous. Mendoza is one of the most important winemaking centers in Argentina. Its wines have acquired worldwide recognition for their taste, aroma and color, especially its 'Malbec'. In the district of Maipú, 16 km (10 miles) from the capital city of Mendoza, lies the Wine Museum, property of the Bodega La Rural. A short guided tour around its facilities is enough to learn about making wine, from historical to modern times. Furthermore, exquisite wine-tasting of a special variety may be experienced, only by tourists, at the wine bar.

Day 18:
Mendoza - Santiago
[ride]
End of the trip in Santiago de Chile.

Note: We reserve the right to make changes.
